Frequently asked questions
Do you sell filter fabric by the running metre or only finished parts?
Both. You can buy fabric on the roll and fabricate it yourself, or get finished parts made to your drawing or your original.
Can you make a filter part from an old original?
Yes. Send or describe the original, and we will suggest a fabric and weave and make the part. A drawing works just as well.
What is the lead time?
The lead time is given once the product has been developed, because it depends on fabric, design and volume. After that we can hold stock and deliver to your forecasts.
Can you hold stock for us?
Yes. Articles we have developed for you are kept in our customer stock in Spånga, so your flow of goods does not stop.
Can we get samples before we order?
Yes, when needed. When selecting the material, we suggest a fabric and weave and provide samples to test in your process.
Do you deliver to Norway and Iceland?
Yes. Bigman is the Sefar distributor in Sweden, Norway and Iceland.
What is the difference between monofilament, multifilament and needle felt?
Monofilament fabric is woven from a single solid thread and gives clearly defined mesh openings. Multifilament is twisted from several fine filaments. Needle felt is a felt and is used mainly in dust filters and filter bags.
Which mesh openings and filtration ratings are available?
Open mesh woven fabrics are available with mesh openings of 1–5,000 µm, and fabrics with indirect passage with pore sizes of 6–215 µm. Sefar filter cartridges cover 0.03–250 µm.
Which material withstands the highest temperature?
According to the Sefar material data, PEEK withstands up to 250 °C and PTFE up to 240 °C in dry operation. SEFAR TETEX NF needle felt handles up to 250 °C and the X-600 element continuous operation up to 260 °C.
Are the fabrics approved for food contact?
Sefar food-grade fabrics, for example SEFAR NYTAL for flour mills and SEFAR TETEX DRY for vacuum belt dryers, comply with FDA and Regulations (EC) No 1935/2004 and (EU) No 10/2011. Ask for a declaration for the fabric you choose.
Do your filter cartridges fit other manufacturers’ filter housings?
Yes, in most cases. SEFAR PHARMA GMP cartridges come with many end fittings and seals, so they fit other manufacturers’ filter housings. Filter housings in 316L stainless steel are also available.
Are there materials for medical devices?
Yes. SEFAR MEDIFAB are precision fabrics for medical devices, made under ISO 13485 and tested to ISO 10993 and USP Class VI.
Is the wire mesh from Sefar?
No. Our woven wire mesh in AISI 304 and AISI 316 comes from other wire cloth suppliers.
