Choosing materials
The function decides the material
Most fabrics are woven from monofilament, a single solid thread. We also supply multifilament, twisted from many fine threads, and needle felt.
Temperature, chemicals, mechanical load and hygiene requirements decide which material fits.
Polymers
Polyamide PA
−40 to +115 °C
Good abrasion resistance, resists alkalis
Polyester PET
−75 to +150 °C
Resists acids, limited against alkalis
Polypropylene PP
−30 to +90 °C
Resists acids and alkalis, absorbs no moisture
PEEK
up to 250 °C
For high heat and demanding chemistry
PTFE
up to 240 °C
Good resistance to all chemical groups
